Protect a solar PV system from DC surges with a Type 2 surge protective device and included fuse set. The DROSS SPD-40 is designed for solar inverter, panel, DC distribution, and related protection setups where surge and lightning-induced transients are a concern.

What is included

  • DROSS DC SPD-40 surge protective device
  • Free DROSS fuse set included with this offer
  • Type 2 protection for compatible DC applications

Specifications

  • Maximum continuous voltage: 600V DC (Uc)
  • Maximum discharge current: 40kA (Imax)
  • Nominal discharge current: 20kA (In)
  • Voltage protection level: up to 2.5kV (Up)
  • CE certified

Compatibility: which system does it fit?

  • Voltage: DC systems whose maximum voltage (panel string Voc, including cold-weather rise) stays below 600V DC.
  • Where it fits: the DC side of a solar system, in the DCDB / combiner box or close to the inverter DC input.
  • Type: Type 2 (T2) protection against surges and lightning-induced spikes.
  • Installation tip: keep the earth connection short and use a proper earth. A qualified electrician should install it.

Solar installer guide: which protection to choose?

Where in your system What to use
Each panel string, before the combiner box or DCDB DROSS ZYPV-32X fuse holder (1000V DC, 32A) with a 10×38mm PV fuse link
Switching off or isolating a DC circuit (string, DCDB, inverter input) DROSS DC MCB 63A, 1 Pole or 2 Pole (600V DC)
Battery to inverter circuit (higher current) DROSS DC MCB 125A, 1 Pole
Surge and lightning protection at the DCDB or inverter DC input DROSS DC SPD-40 (Type 2, 600V DC)

Simple rules: keep your system's maximum DC voltage below the device's voltage rating. Choose the DC MCB current rating about 125% of the normal circuit current (not above your cable's rating), and choose string fuses as per your panel datasheet. Not sure? WhatsApp us your panel wattage, number of panels in series and inverter or battery voltage on +91 99928 08001 and we will suggest the right protection. Installation should be done by a qualified electrician.

Before you order

Confirm your system voltage, protection requirements, and installation space before ordering. This is an electrical protection component and should be selected and installed by a qualified professional in line with applicable local requirements.
